BWTAS was formed in 2006. In the last 20 years BWTAS has promoted water tower appreciation by staging numerous exhibitions, holding water tower tours, holding lectures, answering media enquiries, appearing on radio and television (sometimes as a joke we were in on) and supporting water tower owners and planners in establishing the cultural and historic value of water towers, which until then was barely acknowledged.
We are very proud of our achievements but the time has come that the chairman, secretary and treasurer wish to hand on the baton to others with the energy and enthusiasm to secure its future.
So we are asking for any interested parties to contact us with a bit of background about yourself and how we can reach you as we are planning an AGM (which will be a Zoom call) to elect those officers.
We have made this shout before which resulted in one interested person but per our constitution we have three offices to fill. If we cannot fill these roles with suitable people we shall wind up the society.
BWTAS has a healthy bank balance, some IP which is valuable for merchandising, a neglected web and social media presence (including this blog) and hundreds of members which includes many water tower owners. But our most valuable asset is the trust and confidence we have established with tower owners, with the authorities concerned with water supply and those responsible for national heritage. So while our appreciation of water towers may seem casual on the outside, the officers take this responsibility very seriously.
Please email me with your contact details if you are interested natbocking (at) icloud.com with a short paragraph introducing yourself. The level and quality of interest will determine how we proceed.
Thank you,
